I started more plants under indoor grow lights, including bell peppers,
broccoli, lettuce, and tomatoes. I have room for 224 starts.
I added 8 blueberries (12 total), 4 blackberries (5 total, 1 got eaten over the winter), 25 strawberries (50 total), 2 raspberries, relocated the tomatoes to a larger area that now supports 30 plants, and created a 30' area for the "three sisters" (corn, beans, squash).
I added three raised beds and planted beets, bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, lettuce, and radishes.
Most of my cantaloupe and watermelon starts didn't grow, but I transplated one watermelon and two cantaloupes. We'll see what happens.
I planted some pumpkins, hopefully in time for halloween.
I started to enclose the garden with 6' fencing. Lots of deer come through here!
Work began on a drip irrigation system that services the garden, orchard, and raspberries. A separate 1/2" tube runs to each destination, and 1/4" drip emmitter tubing gets to the plants. Everything is hooked up except for the raised beds. Next year, I will get things more automated.
My priority for this first year was the orchard, so I got to the
garden pretty late in the season. I planted
4 blueberries,
2 blackberries,
2 grapes,
6 tomatoes,
75 strawberries (most of which were dead, but 25 held on),
a small corn patch,
and a few watermelon and cantaloupe seeds.
